We can do it better, William Harding Scott said when he decided to found our company 124 years ago.
It was the dawn of a fascinating new era. Electricity was revolutionizing the world. Like his contemporaries - Henry Royce, Thomas Edison, and George Westinghouse - William Harding Scott saw the enormous potential in harnessing electricity for industrial applications. But Scott wasn’t satisfied with the primitive electric motors and dynamos of the day.
We can do it better. That was Scott’s motivation in founding what would become Laurence Scott and it has been our core belief ever since.
We can do it better. And we have. For 124 years our goal has been to build the best electrical motors and generators in the world. Our machines and control gear are used on every continent and in a variety of industries. They operate on oil-drilling platforms in the icy North Sea and in pipeline complexes in the blistering desert and in every kind of climate and condition in between.
Recently, I visited a waterworks in South Africa where I was proudly shown a Laurence Scott motor that had been running continuously for over 30 years. I was not surprised. I had already heard so many other stories from our customers about the legendary longevity and durability of our products.
We take a great deal of pride in building our machines and we expect them to last..and last..and last. That’s been the Laurence Scott tradition for 124 years. We never intend to forget what Mr. Scott said at the beginning - We can do it better.
